Whole Body Cryotherapy in River Oaks and League City

Whole Body Cryotherapy is three minutes or less in a chamber cooled to sub-zero temperatures. Athletes use it to bounce back between workouts, and plenty of clients book it for the energy and mood lift afterward. It’s available at both our River Oaks (Houston) and League City studios, and first-timers are coached through every step.

Why clients come in for cold therapy

Cryotherapy may help with:

  • Athletic recovery and muscle soreness
  • Pain and inflammation
  • Stress relief
  • Mood, energy and sleep
  • Overall healing

How a session works

  1. Waiver and check-in. You’ll complete a short medical waiver. A trained team member asks a few questions and takes your temperature.
  2. Gear up. In a private changing room, you’ll put on the robe, hat, socks, slippers, mask and gloves we provide to protect sensitive areas.
  3. Into the chamber. Pick a song if you like. Your first session is 2.5 minutes; after that, up to 3. A trained operator stays right outside the chamber the whole time.
  4. Step out. Most people feel alert and energized right away.

Session length: 2.5 minutes the first time, up to 3 minutes after that. How often: consistency matters most. You can come as often as twice a day.

Worried you won’t last? You don’t have to do the full time on day one. Many clients build up over several visits. Most describe it as standing outside on a bitterly cold winter day, which is a novelty in Houston.

What the cold does

Extreme cold triggers a natural fight-or-flight response. Blood vessels in your arms and legs narrow and blood moves toward your core to protect vital organs. During that response, the body raises its antioxidant capacity and certain proteins that may reduce swelling and help you tolerate physical stress. When you step out and warm up, circulation returns to normal, which is part of why people feel so energized afterward.

Cryotherapy vs an ice bath

An ice bath takes 10 minutes or more of wet cold. Cryotherapy uses dry air, so you’re finished in under three minutes, stay dry and can go straight back to your day. Many clients follow it with Red Light Therapy or Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen on the same visit.

Who uses Cryotherapy

Our cryo clients range from competitive athletes and weekend warriors to people who just want a fast mood and energy boost before work.
Runners and lifters book it between hard sessions. Clients with busy schedules like that it takes less than three minutes. Others use it as part
of a stress-relief routine alongside Red Light Therapy or Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure,
circulation problems or are pregnant, talk with your physician first and tell our team before your session.

Getting the most from Cryotherapy

  • Be consistent. Regular sessions, even several a week, do more than a single visit.
  • Time it around training. Many athletes book cryo shortly after a hard workout or on recovery days.
  • Stay dry. Dry skin handles the cold better, so towel off fully if you’ve just exercised.
  • Keep moving. Gently shifting your weight and wiggling your fingers and toes in the chamber helps the time pass.
  • Stack your recovery. Pair it with compression, Red Light Therapy or an IV Drip for a complete recovery visit.

First-timer questions we hear most

It’s normal to feel nervous before your first session. The protective gear covers the areas most sensitive to cold, a trained operator
talks you through the whole session and you can step out at any time. Expect it to feel bracing and intensely cold, and remember that it’s over in under three minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How cold is it?

The chamber uses sub-zero temperatures. With protective gear on and a session of 3 minutes or less, it feels like a very cold winter day.

Do I need to bring anything?

No. We provide the robe, hat, socks, slippers, mask and gloves.

Is someone with me?

Yes. A trained operator runs the chamber and stays just outside for your entire session.

How often can I do it?

As often as twice a day. Regular sessions tend to work better than occasional ones.

Who shouldn’t do Cryotherapy?

The medical waiver screens for conditions that rule it out. If you’re unsure, talk with your physician and tell our team before your session.
